Company Cars – Advisory Fuel Rates

The Inland Revenue have announced that, for all journeys on or after 1 December 2011, advisory fuel rates have been increased as a result of an increase in fuel prices. This rate applies where companies reimburse employees for business travel in their company car when the employees pay for all fuel. For one month from the date of change, employers may use either the previous or new current rates, as they choose. In addition there has also been a change to the engine size thresholds for diesel cars, going forward the three groups (for diesel cars only) will be 1600cc or less, 1600cc to 2000cc and 2000cc and above. The engine size thresholds for petrol and LPG fuelled cars remain unchanged.

The new rates to be used from 1 March 2012 are as follows:-
